Over the past 25 years Main Street Village has become a favorite place to shop, dine and stroll around on Hilton Head Island. People from all parts of the Island and Bluffton as well as vacationers are drawn to Main Street Village for its selection of establishments and tree-shaded, friendly, nostalgic atmosphere.
Located just outside the main gate of Hilton Head Plantation and just off Highway 278 (William Hilton Parkway) between mile markers three and four, visitors don't have to fight traffic here and can enjoy easy parking and no-hassle shopping.
A key feature of Main Street Village is that so many of the businesses are family owned and operated, which adds to the ambiance, and is somewhat unusual in this era, where franchises and large chains typically dominate the retail landscape.
One of the best parts of the village is the eclectic selection of both eateries and stores. Three of the most popular dining spots on Hilton Head, according to Trip Advisor, are located here as well as some of the choicest and most unique boutique shopping places, including specialty stores with prime quality merchandise.

Hilton Head Island's first movie theatre and the only one specializing in "Art House" films by independent producers aimed at an upscale adult audience. In 2001, the owners of Coligny Plaza decided that the plaza needed a movie theater, and that if no one else wanted to operate one, they would. The theater was renovated, renamed Coligny Theatre, and opened for business on March 1, 2002 as an "art house," mostly showing films by independent producers, and aimed at an upscale adult audience. The artwork both inside and outside the theater was done by local artist Ralph Sutton.
