Ranked among "The 50 Greatest U.S. Tennis Resorts" since 1975 by Tennis Magazine, Palmetto Dunes was also recently ranked #3 in the "World's Top 100 Tennis Resorts and Camps" by Tennis Resorts Online. Palmetto Dunes offers outstanding tennis for players of any ability.
The Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center features 23 clay courts and two Nova ProBounce courts, eight lighted for night play. The staff, all tennis professionals and aficionados, leads a wide range of weekly programs including clinics, drill sessions and daily round robin tournaments. From March to October, the tennis center adds a weekly exhibition, happy hour and free demonstration day. The Tennis Center is also home to a Tennis Pro Shop, featuring the latest equipment, apparel and accessories by Nike, Prince, Wilson, Head, Fila, Bolle and K Swiss.
The oceanfront resort was the only resort in Hilton Head ranked in the top 5 for instruction, junior programs and children's programs and in the top 10 for overall resorts. Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort was named No. 2 in the world for Best Instruction and Programs and ranked 8th in the world for Top Tennis Resorts.
Visitors also gave high marks to the Center for its juniors and children's programs, ranking it third in the world for Best Overall Children's programs and fourth in the world for Best Junior Tennis programs. The resort recently completed a shortening of the tennis courts for players 10 and younger per new regulations from the U.S. Tennis Association and was the first in Hilton Head to do so.

For over 40 years, Van Der Meer Tennis has been teaching thousands of tennis players of all ability levels. Named as one of Tennis Magazine's top 50 US tennis resorts, the Shipyard Tennis Resort's championship courts are nestled among magnificent oaks and beautifully landscaped grounds. The Resort offers 20 courts (13 Har-Tru & 7 Hard). Eight are lighted of which 3 are indoor/lighted. Most clinics are held on clay courts.

The newly constructed Port Royal Racquet Club features 8 Har-Tru Clay courts and 2 Pickleball courts, set amid the natural landscapes of the Island. From its opening in 1985, Port Royal Racquet Club has been host to the games of legends and superstars, such as Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Tony Trabert and Stan Smith. The Academy is within one of the top-rated resorts in the country, The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
The academy was founded in 2002 to help prepare junior athletes for the highest level of competition possible in both collegiate and professional tennis. We promote a family atmosphere of intense training, camaraderie, and fun. The Smith Stearns approach speaks for itself as we have developed numerous state, sectional, national, and international champions over the years, as well as having one of the strongest college placement programs in the country.
Under Stan and BJ's leadership, a staff of highly qualified coaches specifically trained in the Smith Stearns approach work one-on-one with committed young people to help them reach their full potential as players.
